Prebiotics

Prebiotics are non-digestible carbohydrates that are not absorbed by the upper section of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). They stimulate the growth of good intestinal microbiota, such as Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, and consequently increase the production of lactic and acetic acids, thus decreasing the development of enterobacteria. Additionally, mannanoligosaccharides and b-glucans found in prebiotics adhere to bacteria carrying type I fimbriae like: Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli and Clostridium spp., causing them to agglutinate and be excreted. The improved ratio between good/pathogenic bacteria enhances zootechnical parameters, including feed conversion.
